How the estimate is worked out
- Electricity cost: your units at NEPRA’s domestic slab rates (table below).
- F.C surcharge: about Rs 3.23 per unit.
- GST: 18% of the two amounts above.
The estimate does not include the fuel price adjustment (FPA), quarterly adjustment, fixed charges, electricity duty, PTV fee, income tax or arrears. These change from month to month, so your real bill will usually be different. It is a guide for budgeting, not your bill.
Slab rates used
Base rates per unit for domestic consumers, as recommended by NEPRA in January 2026. Check the latest NEPRA tariff notification for changes.

Up to 200 units, the calculator assumes protected rates and charges each slab separately (the first 100 units at the lower rate, the rest at the next rate). Above 200 units, all units are charged at the rate of the slab you reach. Households that crossed 200 units in recent months may be billed at non-protected rates even when usage drops, which the calculator does not account for.

The jump between the two examples shows why staying at or under 200 units a month makes such a difference.

Common mistakes
- Using the present reading from an old bill instead of your meter today.
- Forgetting that rates above 200 units are much higher.
- Using old rates after NEPRA has changed the tariff.
- Expecting the estimate to match the bill exactly, when FPA and other charges are left out.

Is this calculator official?
No. It is our own estimate tool, based on published NEPRA rates. Only your bill shows the amount you owe.
Why is my real bill different?
Mainly because of the fuel price adjustment, quarterly adjustments, fixed charges and other taxes, which change often and are not included here.
Does it work for commercial or agricultural connections?
No. It uses domestic (household) rates only.
